Cam chat safety tips, plus how to get help fast
Most chats are fine. This page is for the ones that are not: what to do before, during and after, and where to go when something breaks.
- Block and report in the chat
- A short checklist
- A real person to write to
Nobody opens a chat site expecting trouble, and most conversations are friendly. But a stranger on a camera is still a stranger, and a few habits make bad moments smaller.
This page is the short version of what we would tell a friend. It covers what to do before you start, what to do in the chat, what to do after, and where to go if the problem is the site rather than the person.
If you are asking is cam to cam safe, the honest answer is: as safe as you make it. One-on-one rooms are quieter than group rooms, and block, report and skip are always in reach.
Before you start
- Use a nickname, not your full name.
- Check what is visible behind you: mail, screens, photos, a window with a street sign.
- Close tabs with anything private on them.
- Decide your limits first. It is easier to hold a line you drew in advance.
- Read the community guidelines so you know what we will act on.
During a chat: skip, block, report
Skip is for anything that is just not for you. Tap Next. No explanation needed.
Block is for anyone you never want to meet again. It takes one tap from the chat screen.
Report is for anything that breaks the rules: harassment, threats, pressure, anyone who appears to be underage, or anyone asking you for money or private details. Reports go to our moderation team, and serious or repeated violations can lead to account restrictions.
Never send money, gift cards or card numbers to someone you have just met. No real chat needs them. A person who pushes for them is not a friend.

After a chat
- Do not share your social handles, phone number or address with someone you met minutes ago.
- If a conversation left you uneasy, step away for a bit. You do not have to act on it immediately.
- Report afterwards if you forgot to in the moment. Include what you remember so we can act on it.
- If someone has threatened you or you feel in danger, contact your local authorities first.
