How a 1v1 cam chat works, from first tap to next match

The first time you use a chat site, you hover over the button for a minute. What happens when I press it? Will the camera switch on straight away? Who sees me first?

1. Open the lobby
Tap Start Video Chat anywhere on the site. The lobby shows Video, Audio and Text, plus Try a Free Match if you want a preview first.

2. Choose a mode
Video is the default. Choose Audio if you want to talk without a camera, or Text for typing only.

For Video and Audio, your browser asks for camera and microphone. You can change this later in your browser settings.

4. Meet one person
You are paired 1v1 with someone who is online. Say hi. If you want to leave, tap Next or exit.

What the 10 daily free matches do
You get 10 free matches every day. Each successful match uses one, and the Start button shows how many are left. When they are gone, more matches use coins, and live video is billed per minute from connection. The rate is shown first.

Your first five minutes
Most first matches are short and a little awkward. That is normal. You both just opened a camera and neither of you knows what the other is like. Say hello, ask one easy question, and see how it goes.
Do not judge the whole site on the first match. Some people are tired, some are distracted, and some are looking for exactly what you are looking for. Give it three or four hellos before you decide whether it is for you. If you want more calm, try Audio or Text first and switch to Video when you are ready.
When you want to stop, you can. Close the match, or just leave the page. Nobody follows up.
What a first-timer should know
- You can leave any time. Nobody is told why, and nobody expects an explanation.
- Say hello first. It is the easiest way to get a good conversation.
- Your nickname is what others see. Keep it separate from your full name.
